Treats are the in-app credit that powers Professor Madrid's AI features — chat replies, spoken voice, adding words/phrases to your Memorise queue, verb checks, and Street View. Every reply is generated live by AI, which costs us money to run, so treats are how that cost is shared fairly: simple actions use a little, richer ones use a bit more.
New accounts start with a one-time grant of free treats so you can try everything first. After that, the AI features run on treats. When your balance reaches zero, you top up a pack to keep going — there is no ongoing free tier. See the Terms & Conditions for full detail.
No. Treat packs are one-time purchases. You are never charged automatically — you decide if and when to buy more.
Open the app's top-up screen and pick a pack. Larger packs include bonus treats, so you get more treats per dollar the bigger you go.
Yes. Voice is the most resource-heavy feature. You can turn off automatic voice replies in your Profile settings, then tap a message only when you actually want to hear it spoken. Text chat uses the fewest treats.
You get a set number of Street View photos free every day. Once you pass that daily allowance, browsing more starts using treats. The free allowance resets each day.

Treats are a consumable digital good, so purchases are final except where a refund is required by law or granted by Apple. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple through your Apple account, not by us.
The AI features pause until you top up. Your account, saved progress, and learning profile stay intact — adding any treat pack picks up right where you left off.
